Hi, I’m Rhonda, the founder of Wild Atlas Travels, and I believe the best trips are the ones that make you feel more alive.
The ones where you come home satisfied, sun-kissed, and a little changed. The kind of travel that sparks curiosity, expands your comfort zone, and has you already thinking about where you want to go next.
Wild Atlas was built for travelers who want more than a standard vacation. Travelers who crave intention, immersion, and experiences that feel personal. Travelers who want to slow down, connect deeply with a place, and still keep a little adventure in their back pocket.
My first trip to the ocean was in high school. My first trip outside the U.S. was to Mexico.
Naturally, I used my graduation money to book an all-inclusive resort. It was supposed to be the dream. Unlimited food, unlimited drinks, and a nice pool. But pretty quickly, I realized I was not a resort girl.
For a lot of reasons, it just did not feel like me.
So I did what any curious, slightly impulsive teenager would do. I left. I hopped on what they called a “bus,” which was really just a van filled with locals who only spoke Spanish, and I headed to a nearby town. And that is where the magic happened.
The food was better. The energy was real. The streets were alive. The experience felt authentic and spontaneous and unforgettable. I had no desire to go back to the resort. That was the moment I got hooked on travel. Not the polished version. The real version.
From then on, I veered far away from all-inclusives and started chasing experiences that felt more local, more immersive, and more alive.
These days, I still love travel that feels active and intentional, but I also know how to choose the right all-inclusive when it fits the trip. I am picky, and I am proud of it.
